Zimfest 7s 2009 the one and only Zimbabwean Social Rugby Sevens tournament in the world is upon us. This year we have more interest than ever before with Sponsorhip from Saracens and Springbok Supporters Club.

Unfortunately one of our Refs has had to fly off to Dubai unexpectedly so if there are any Refs out there who are up for a great day out in the sun with 5 star VIP treatment at Zimfest 2009 please get in touch.

Zimfest 2009 pulled together on the day to produce the best ever tournament to date. With full-on contact and some high quality teams, Raynes Park RFC and ZESA fought off Egham and Zimbo Wild Dogs to make it to the Final. This was the most closely fought final in the history of the Zimfest 7s, refereed by Zimbabwean International Referee Richard Bloxham, and was full of individual brilliance and excellent supporting teamwork. ZESA finally managed to come out on top with a 33-12 scoreline. Player of the tournament was voted Shaun McKinney from Raynes Park, while Piet Potgieter captain of ZESA lifted the Zimbabwe Social Sevens trophy preventing a hat trick year from Raynes Park. The top three teams were then invited to the VIP tent for drinks and to mingle with the celebrities and sponsors. Saracens and Springbok Legend Cobus Visagie presented Player of the Tournament signed Saracens Shirt to Shaun and first prize of Premiership Tickets to Saracens vs Northampton at Wembley Stadium was presented to ZESA. With around 5000 revellers for the second year running Zimfest 7s 2009 was as usual a great success thoroughly enjoyed by fans and players. Bring on Zimfest 7s 2010.
