Canada’s first ever made-in-Abbotsford inaugural Rugby Sevens event will be held in Abbotsford on July 25. Already in its first year, the Abbotsford Rugby Sevens has attracted two international teams--the West Indies Sevens and Kenyan Sevens teams--and Canadian domestic teams. Sanctioned by Rugby BC, this event is an international first given its unique entertainment feel with multicultural exhibitions, Korean drumming, Bhangra dancing, a First Nations ceremonial blessing, guest speeches by local luminaries, world music by renowned DJs,, and an appearance by the BC Lions Felions. The Hunger Response International Charity is also the official charitable partner and a percentage of the proceeds will be donated to help end hunger in Kenya and in local communities. Sponsors and partners have showed an unprecedented level of support. The event is big and bold and set to be an annual event.
