The Singapore Cricket Club completed their preparations for the 63rd SCC Rugby 7s with by securing third place at the Bangkok International 7s. Having won the plate on their first visit to the Bangkok tournamnet in 2009, the SCC were determined to achieve a higher finish. An undefeated first day was followed by qaurter-final victory over Maccasar of South Africa, before eventual winners Grammar Carlton, from Auckland, New Zealand, proved too strong in the semi-final. The Kiwis inflicted SCC's only defeat of the weekend on their way to lifting their third successive Bangkok 7s title.

The tournament completes a positive warm-up for the SCC 7s team as they prepare for their own tournament, one of the biggest and best 7s competitions in Asia Pacific, which will take place on the world-famous Padang 5-7 November. SCC also reached the semi-finals of the Shanghai International 7s in September.

The SCC 7s squad willl be announced later this week, while the tournament draw will take place on Thursday (4 Nov) evening. For the first time ever, games will be played on Friday night with the men's final taking place on Sunday evening.
