SCC warm up for 7s with third place finish in Bangkok
The Singapore Cricket Club completed their preparations for the 63rd SCC Rugby 7s with by securing third place at the Bangkok International 7s. Having won the plate on their first visit to the Bangkok tournamnet in 2009, the SCC were determined to achieve a higher finish. An undefeated first day was followed by qaurter-final victory over Maccasar of South Africa, before eventual winners Grammar Carlton, from Auckland, New Zealand, proved too strong in the semi-final. The Kiwis inflicted SCC's only defeat of the weekend on their way to lifting their third successive Bangkok 7s title. view the rest of the post »
SCC 7s confirms big names
With just two weeks left until Asia's oldest 7s tournament kicks off, the Singapore Cricket Club has announced a strong line-up of international, invitational and club teams to compete in the 63rd Ablitt Cup. South Africa Vipers will look to defend their title and maintain their three year 100% winning streak, but will face stiff competition from debutatns Penguins, as well as Japan Samurai, Ponsonby and Davetalevu amongst others. The first ever SCC 7s international women's tournament will be contested by hosts Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Japan. view the rest of the post »
SCC 7s 2010 is fast approaching...
It's just five weeks until this year's Singapore Cricket Club International Rugby 7s tournament and everything is going to be bigger and better. There are a few new features, including night-time rugby, with the competition expanded to three days and nights, rather than two. We'll also have out first ever ladies international competition. We are hoping to announce the final list of competing teams this week but we can already confirm that there will be a host of international sides and some top invitational teams. view the rest of the post »
