This remains a focus point. Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens & the Municipality wish to make application to SA Rugby & the IRB to be considered as a World Sevens Series destination in 2011, under a five year contract.

Port Elizabeth as a city has met with all FIFA requirements, this means that our cities infrastructure is good & will meet with the infrastructure requirements required by the IRB.

As a city we need to prove to SA Rugby that the people of Nelson Mandela Bay are hungry to watch quality rugby and that sevens in no exception. For us to make this bid to SA Rugby, and to stand a chance to be considered we need crowd attendance in 2008.

This crowd attendance proves a number of points, these include the ability to support an event, the ability to accept & pay a reasonable price for a ticket, the ability for the organizers to host an event of this magnitude.

Simply, we need your support. Companies & residents of Port Elizabeth and the Sevens world, we need your vote of confidence, please vote by buying a ticket, sponsoring or competing.

This event would be massive for the city. The television exposure is worldwide with coverage extending to millions of homes. This exposure attracts worldwide interest, investment & tourism for the city, this equates to increased spend in the city, increased investment opportunity, increased employment, increased housing prices with international awareness in our property market etc.

The IRB World Sevens Series would be good for you, me & our neighbour’s.
