As one of the oldest and most popular Sevens competitions in the world, the Middlesex 7s is played at the famous Twickenham Stadium, where for one day only, Premiership Rugby Clubs and Invitational Sides do battle. Their weapon of choice..............Rugby Sevens
The 2009 event was a fantastic day out for everyone, with some breathtaking rugby, fabulous fancy dress and eventually some sun! The end of the day saw the outstanding invitation side ULR Samurai face-off in the final against a star-studded London Irish side. England players Delon and Steffon Armitage, along with younger brother Guy, lead the Exiles to victory, winning 26-19, despite finishing the game with only 6 players.
The upcoming year should be very exciting for the Middlesex 7s, as the event is one month before the Commonwealth Games and could well be used as a platform for hopeful 7s internationals to showcase their talents. Not only that, the fantastic news that Rugby 7s has been voted in to the 2016 Olympics has everyone at the Middlesex 7s excited about the future of the game.
