25TH MARIST SAMOA SEVENS
Marist international sevens since its inauguration in 1988 has long been the foundation for the development for rugby sevens in Samoa. Now with the inception of the Samoa 7s Series for the preparation of the IRB 7s Series, the Marist Samoa 7s has long been the grandeur highlight of our national sevens series each year. Today, the Vailima Marist Samoa International 7s, is the center stage to showcase the best and most exciting rugby display in Samoa. History has proven that the tournament has provided the international rugby arena with some of the most revered and renowned players such as the legendary Brian Lima and Sila Vaifale. The Maestro Uale Mai, Lolo Lui and Mikaele Pesamino to name a few of the many exceptional players who have donned the MS 7s colors. The outstanding individual performances led to Uale Mai being the first Samoa sevens player to be awarded the top honor of the IRB Sevens Player of the Year in 200, a feat that was repeated by the speedster Mikaele Pesamino in 2010.
