Samurai Win the National Series:
Samurai International have been crowned overall champions in a thrilling culmination to the inaugural National Series at the Newquay Surf Sevens.
Although the British Army won the individual Newquay leg, drawing themselves level on 48 points in the log with Samurai, the servicemen were denied the Series thanks to an inferior points difference.
In a pulsating climax at the Newquay Sports Centre, Samurai’s shock defeat to the White Hart Marauders in the semi-finals meant the Army needed to win the final by 46 points to triumph.
Despite a superb performance, the 36-7 scoreline meant they hadn't quite done enough. In the race for Twickenham, the HFW Wailers and Marauders join the top two at the Middlesex Sevens (August 14), with both sides finishing joint third.

£5 off tickets to Middlesex Charity 7s at Twickenham:
Guinness Premiership sides, England, Scotland, Wales and Invitation sides battle it out in a full day of action packed, try-filled rugby and entertainment at the Middlesex Charity 7s at Twickenham stadium on Saturday 14th August.
Last year’s final was contested by the outstanding invitation side ULR Samurai International and a star-studded London Irish side. England players Delon and Steffon Armitage, along with younger brother Guy, led the Exiles to victory, and secured their club’s first ever Middlesex Charity 7s title.
Whilst there is the serious business of winning on the pitch there is plenty of fun to be had off it, as everyone can enjoy the carnival atmosphere created with cheerleading, karaoke, brass bands, and an all day party in the West Car Park! The Middlesex 7s is famous for the fancy dress indulged in by many rugby clubs and groups with the hope of starring on the Big Screen at Twickenham.
Josh Lewsey, former England international and previous winner of the Middlesex 7s with Wasps said: “The Middlesex Sevens should be a date in every rugby fans diary. It's a great family day out with a great tradition.”
