The London Sevens is a weekend of high class sevens all wrapped up in a party atmosphere at the world famous Twickenham stadium. It's the penultimate let of the IRB Sevens World Series with 16 international teams participating in the two day tournament.
London Sevens is the start of the home stretch for the IRB Series and in the past has proved to be a pivotal leg of the series. In 2009 England staged an emphatic come back in front of 35,000 fans to beat New Zealand with a score in the final second of extra time.
Unique off the field atmosphere
As well as world class Sevens on the field the London Sevens offers a unique off the field atmosphere. The carnival like atmosphere is unlike anything normally seen at Twickenham. You are more likely to run into a man dressed in a superman costume than a barber jacket, which is more customary at Twickenham.
The brand new Twickenham South stand is brought to life by the charismatic blend of rugby fans that turn out in fancy dress to sing, dance and party the day away.
The 2014 edition of the tournament is expecting over 115000 people with a sell-out on the first day having been announced by the RFU two weeks before the tournament.
