Mel's Exiles was first established back in 1982 by Mel Williamson. The initial reason for the team was to help raise money for various charities by playing Sociable 7s across the U.K. and Europe through Mel's own vast rugby connections.

Over the last 27 years, Mel's Exiles has seen over 50 International Caps play in the traditional Red, White and Green, as well as hundreds of Age-Grade and 'A' Internationalists, Professional and Top club players from all over the world.
Our most famous 'Exile' is non other than Fiji's Waisale Serevi who has been part of the Mel's Exiles Squad throughout 2009 and 2010.

Mel's Exiles is based in Edinburgh, Scotland but play with the Plume of Feathers on their shirt in honour of the Founder, Mel Williamson.

In recent years, the squad has benefited from basing the majority of their selections from the Scottish Premiership with an aim to be seen as Scotland's Premier Invitational 7s Team.

In 2009, Mel's Exiles got through to the Quarter-Finals of the Amsterdam 7s, and the Semi-Finals of the Roma 7s.

2010 saw great success for the team at the Roma 7s, the team took home the Bowl after a thrilling final against the world famous 'Froggies'.

So what is the future for Mel's Exiles? We are currently in the process of pushing for selection into the National 7s Series in 2011 along side the biggest names on the sevens Circuit. We are also in the process of agreeing terms with new sponsors for next season so hopefully Mel's Exiles can continue to grow from strength to strength and emulate their recent successes.
