Olympic Rugby History
Rugby union has previously been an olympic sport in its 15-a-side format, being played at four of the first seven Olympic Games. It debuted at the 1900 Paris games, then featured at London in 1908, Antwerp in 1920 and once again Paris in 1924.
Olympic rugby’s tenure was brought to an end shortly after the 1924 games when the IOC cancelled rugby union as an Olympic sport.
We'll be publishing a more comprehensive guide to Olympic Rugby History soon.
