Organisers of the London Sevens are confidently targeting 100,000 fans to attend the penultimate leg of the 2009/10 IRB Sevens World Series.
Samoa currently tops the overall log with New Zealand just four points behind, with just the London and Edinburgh tournaments left.
"It would be a fantastic achievement if we could get there," said the RFU's Business Operations Director, Paul Vaughan speaking to the IRB.
"Last year was a massive step forward on the year before - we ended up with 64,000 people coming through our doors - and it was a fantastic final from our point of view, England winning in extra time with the golden try and beating New Zealand.”
Twickenham is set to be awash with colourful fancy-dress from the multi-cultural crowds that Sevens embraces. Organisers are also aiming to break a Guinness World Record™ for the 'Largest Gathering of Superheroes'.
"You're seeing different people coming to support the game. If you're Portuguese you probably wouldn't normally get to come to Twickenham, or Kenyan, and these teams and their fans are fantastic to watch in Sevens,” added Vaughan.
"It used to be the end of season party, and that was it. Now it's a completely different game as we work through to the Olympics in 2016."
