The draw has been announced for the next leg of the Kings of the Sevens Series at Hawick on Saturday (April 17).
Leaders Selkirk open up against Sterling County in the knockout style tournament with second placed Jedforest up against Peebles.
Hosts Hawick must tackle a depleted Melrose, with the Greenyards club’s senior players involved in a remaining 15-a-side fixture at Watsonians on the same day.
Watsonians, who are the Kings of Sevens defending champions, are also set to be at Hawick despite the league clash, and open up against Edinburgh Accies.
Last weekend saw none of the Borders Clubs make it past the quarter-finals at the third leg, the Melrose Sevens. Selkirk just missed out against University of Johannesburg (12-19) and Melrose controversially denied a late score against eventual winners Hamilton (14-17). Kelso were overrun by the Army of Scotland 12-35 in the last eight also.
Hawick gave the home fans a treat at the this tournament last year. They beat Selkirk in a exciting final, 24-14, in a high quality tournament that saw the invited Kooga Wailers involved. This year’s guest teams include 1 Scot and The Vikings, who are Denmark’s national side.
The Hawick event is at rugby sevens’ second oldest tournament behind Melrose.
