Join the UK National Series line ups

Wednesday 10 February 2010 (UR7s)

The inaugural UK National Sevens Series is now only four months away, and all four of the tournaments are now accepting applications for the other levels of play.

The UK National Sevens will comprise of ten core specialist Sevens teams, plus two invitational sides competing at each host tournament.

But each of the events will have other tournaments running concurrently enabling a greater number of Sevens to be played throughout the summer of Sevens and adding to the atmosphere we associate with the sport – something not to be missed.

Rugby Rocks, London

The first leg of the tour, Rugby Rocks Sevens at the Athletic Ground in Richmond, will take place on June 12. As well as the main competition it will also host the Scrumqueens Women’s Open, a Men’s Open and a Social tournament.

To register for any of these tournaments you should email rugbyrocks@live.co.uk, or for further details visit www.rugbyrocks7s.com.

There will be live music, DJs, dancers, stunt displays, guest appearances (including Ollie Phillips) and the England vs. USA FIFA World Cup game will be shown on a giant outdoor screen.

West Country Sevens, Bath

The second leg, the West Country Sevens, will be held from June 18-20 at Keynsham RFC – approximately four miles outside of Bath.

This event offers a camping facility for the fans, and this year the event will also be raising money for Help The Heroes and the PA Trust.

A Men and Women’s Open will compliment the main tournaments, as well as a Social and Touch competition over the three days. To enter a team into any of these events email westcountry7s@hotmail.com.

Manchester Sevens

After a successful inaugural year last year the Manchester Sevens was selected as the penultimate leg of the UK Series and will take place from July 4-5 at Heywood Road.

Last year Samurai took home the International Invitation, Ronin won the Kit Team Cup, Rugby Ecosse won the RAF Ladies Cup and the Hurricanes won the Social. To be part of this year’s Open tournament email info@ManchesterRugby7s.com or visit www.manchesterrugby7s.com. The event will also be raising money for the Wooden Spoon and SOS Kit Aid charities.

Newquay Surf Sevens

Finally, the last leg of the inaugural UK National Series will be the Newquay Surf Sevens, on July 16-18, where there will also be a Men and Women’s Open, a Social tournament and the Sunday Cup. For more information on entering teams visit www.newquaysurf7s.co.uk.

Not only will this event host some outstanding rugby with a total pot of £10,000 up for grabs. The nightlife will also keep fans entertained all weekend where the British Army triumphed last year.
