Uganda building for Commonwealth Games

Monday 8 February 2010 (UR7s)

The Ugandan Rugby Union has released the national Sevens sides 2010 fixtures in the build up to the Commonwealth Games in October.

Following the success of the Lady Cranes in that they were the first ever side to represent their country in a World Cup when they turned out for the inaugural women’s tournament last year in Dubai, the governing body wants the growth to continue for both sides.

With the Delhi Commonwealth Games in October a carrot for the players, the Uganda Sevens team begin with the Castle 7s tournament in Zambia from May 29-30.

Last year Uganda were present at the Tangier Sevens and were last seen in a big tournament in September at the Namibia Sevens.

After the Zambian tournament the Cranes will then head to the Kenya Safari Sevens where they also played in last year in June before climaxing with the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India, October 3-14.
