Canada has announced their squad for the upcoming Seven de Punta del Este tournament which kicks off this weekend in Uruguay. It’s the first indicator of the players that coach Morgan Williams will look to include when Canada make their first appearances in this season’s IRB World Sevens Series in Wellington (5-6 Feb).
John Moonlight, Sean Duke, and Phil Mack all possess World Series experience and could provide the backbone of a young and exciting squad. Brodie Henderson is another with national Sevens experience, whilst Keegan Selby and Mike Sholtz have representative 15-a-side experience.
Exciting 15-a-side international, Nathan Hirayama, is also included with the 21-year-old experiencing IRB Sevens back in 2008. Canada line-up against Toyota 7 and Carrasco Polo Club in Pool E.
Argentina has named their select VII for the tournament giving their second string some game-time, but include Mariano Baud and Tomas Passerotti who represented the Pumas in Dubai and George. The Argentina VII will face Lobos Moby Dick and Trébol in Pool F.
Tonga is another side warming up for Wellington in Uruguay and face Nordeste and Jockey Club de Salta in Pool A. Samoa will defend the title they won last year.

G – Italy, Citi 7 and Old Boys
