Fijian flying winger Rupeni Caucaunibuca is set to return the international stage at this year’s Rugby World Cup Sevens in Dubai, according to Fiji Sevens coach, Waisale Serevi.
"It's good news for us. I've already named him in my squad for the World Cup," Serevi said recently. Currently playing for French outfit Agen, Caucau (as he is known in Rugby circles) has rediscovered his midas touch this season scoring in nearly every match since joining in November.
But Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) chief executive Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua hinted that the speed merchant will have to work harder to get the nod for the Sevens Rugby World Cup. “
“We have to look at the overall performance and how he is doing," Tavanavanua told the Fiji Times.
The controversial ‘Bua Bullet’ has been stung with a string of disciplinary problems in the past and recently failed to turn up to a trial with Leicester Tigers. Caucau is not currently in Fiji Rugby Union's list of overseas-based players being eyed for the defence of the Melrose Cup in Dubai in March, but Serevi maintains Caucau in still pretty much in the picture.
"The door is still open and won't shut for him or any overseas-based player," the maestro said.
“I'm doing my part and still trying to talk to him."
Serevi said even if Caucau was available he wanted first-hand confirmation from the winger before asking Rugby House executives to hold talks with Agen.
"If everything goes well then he should be able to join us one week before the World Cup.
"It will be better if we can talk to Agen to release him earlier".
The thought of Caucau terrorising defenses in March is a mouth-watering prospect for the rugby neutral, but perhaps not so for his opposition.

i think if caucau looses weight it will be good not a bad thing its a good thing see he still got speed in him and he is one of the fastest and he is 114 kgs if he looses that weight and does extra training it will be exciting to watch him play
