The French women's Sevens team showed their class shocking Wooden Spoons Rugby 19-0 to win the International Invitational Women's crown at the Dubai Sevens.

Cheered on by a supportive crowd, which had gathered for the night's showpiece later in the evening, the French team took control from the word go and were leading 12-0 at halftime.

Just a few minutes before the break, the Wooden Spooners, including a number of England players who had taken part at the inagurual world cup in March, got a chance to reduce the margin with some good approach work but fumbled with the ball at the last minute.

Runners-up here last time, the Wooden Spooners tried to come back in patches in the second half but were kept at bay by a resolute French defensive line.

In the semi-finals France were convincing in a 26-5 won over Tuks Ladies, whilst Wooden Spoon gritted it out against Moscow, coming through 10-7.

Rugby Ecosse Feminin took home the plate courtesy of a 15-5 win over the USA.

Welsh continue dominance Under 20’s

Urdd Gobaith Cymru overcame Pyrenees 7s in sensational fashion to lift the Emirates Airlines Dubai Rugby Sevens' International U-20 title.

The Welsh outfit, who have won the International U-19 title a staggering four times and are the defending champions in the competition, dished out flawless rugby during their Dubai outing.

They were on fire against Pyrenees, as they ran home seven tries in the 43-0 beating.
It was Urdd's second victory over Pyrenees in three days and followed their 33-7 victory on the opening day of the competition.

In the semi-finals, Urdd had beaten St Mary's School Nairobi 19-7, while Pyrenees whitewashed Doverie 19-0.

Hollywood 7s took out the International Social with a comprehensive 38-7 dispatching of the physical Wyvern Quins. The Hollywood side were made of former schoolmates, and impressed the 50,000 crowd at 'The Sevens' with their speed and handling.

Christina Noble, backed full of legends like Tim Horan and Austin Healey won the International Veterans event with a 40-7 win over the Wooden Spoon. The winners had won a tough semi-final earlier against the Bone Steelers who themsleves included the likes of Gregor Townsend and Duncan Hodge.
