The Brunei Sevens is the second event on the inaugural Asian Rugby Sevens Series. Five international teams are participating this weekend, including top seeds Malaysia, second seeds India, third seeds Philippines, fourth seeds Laos and hosts Brunei.
Malaysia is heating up ahead of its hosting of the third ranking event on the Asian Rugby Sevens Series next week (31 October and 1 November) in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo.
Malaysia is clearly the front runner after beating its nearest ranked teams India and Philippines by a combined scoring margin of 67-10. The Malaysians scored 166 points in their four opening day matches.
Hosts Brunei upset the formbook for their only win on the day after blanking Laos 31-nil.
Brunei Sevens action continues on Sunday, 25 October 2009.
