Fiji Sevens co-captain Emosi Vucago believes Fiji has a great opportunity to win their first ever Olympic medal following Rugby Sevens’ inclusion in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janerio, Brazil.
Vucago said his ambition is to be part of that national team in 2016.
"I think this is a huge chance for us to win our first medal in the Olympics Games. Of course I'll want to be part of that team and win our first Olympic medal."
"I'll try my best to win a medal for Fiji if I'll be part of that team. Nothing is impossible if it's still said,” added Vucago.
Fiji recently took home a silver medal at the Pacific Mini Games, losing out to Samoa in the final.
National sevens Coach Iliesa Tanivula echoed similar sentiments saying Fiji is on the brighter end of winning a medal in 2016.
"I believe this is good news for Rugby 7s and it's another huge opportunity for us to win our first Olympic medal. Other rugby 7s teams might see their chances of winning something."
Tanivula also added that he was keen to take up the coaching post if everything falls into its appropriate place by 2016.
The former New Zealand sevens representative said time alone would decide on his coaching fate.
"I would love to be part of that team in 2016. If I'm still the coach then I guess it's great to be involved with that team."
He said the 2016 Olympics preparation should get underway using the International Rugby Board Sevens World Series as a build up.
Prison officer Setefano Cakau is set to make a return for the first leg of the 2009/10 IRB sevens series.
Cakau, who missed out the last four 2008/09 IRB tournaments, was named in the extended training squad which marches into camp today.
National sevens coach Iliesa Tanivula has sent a stern warning to the players to prove their worth to be included into the team.
Tanivula said Cakau's presence was another boost to the team prior to the first IRB series first leg in Dubai and George.
"All players will need to prove themselves. Nothing is confirmed at the moment and players will have to fight for their spot in the final team.
"Cakau has the experience but he needs to prove his fitness first," Tanivula said.
William Ryder is included in the squad along with newcomers to Aloesi Qio, David Bruce, Manoa Tamaya, Waisale Be-ci, Josefa Bole, Lino Sauni-toga also in the extended squad. Nadroga center Mesula-me Soga was the late inclusion replacing Paula Karatu yesterday.
