The pools have been announced ahead of the Trustco Namibia Sevens in Windhoek this weekend, with IRB World Sevens Series champions, South Africa, heading the line up.
The Springboks are in Pool A, joined by Tunisia and hosts Nambia, and have included two non-capped players in their squad, Reg Muller and Shaun Raubenheimer.
Springboks veteran Marius Schoeman, who announced his retirement at the end of last season, has had a rethink and made himself available for selection again, a decision welcome by coach Paul Treu because of the many stalwarts from the IRB Series winning side they have lost.
In Pool B, World Games gold medallists Fiji will be joined by Spain and Zambia, and Rugby World Cup Sevens finalists Argentina meet Zimbabwe and Uganda in Pool C.
Uganda coach, Ronnie Lutakome, who named the squad yesterday said: “We are taking our best team and I’m confident they will deliver.”
Samoa, Portugal and Botswana compete in Pool D at the Heine Geingob Stadium.
South Africa squad:
Mpho Mbiyozo, Chase Minnaar, Frankie Horne, Cecil Afrika, Neil Powell, Kyle Brown, Paul Delport, Ryno Benjamin, Reg Muller, Mzwandile Stick, Marius Schoeman, Shaun Raubenheimer
