Leeds Carnegie and Bath Rugby have included a host of bright young stars for this weekend’s Middlesex Sevens event at Twickenham.
Both Guinness Premiership sides went out in the Plate Semi-Finals last year. Bath face a tough opening fixture against last year’s winners the British Army and Leeds will meet London Wasps first who have already announced their squad.
Leeds’ side has an average age of 20 and they will be coached by Academy Manager Diccon Edwards. Six of the squad played at the Middlesex Sevens last year before going on to make their first team debuts last season as well as helping the club’s U19 side win the Yorkshire Cup.
Brothers Tom and Oli Denton will line up for Leeds as well as England U18 representatives Joe Ford and Oli Stedman and at 22-years-old Scott Armstrong is the most experienced member of the side
He marked his full Leeds debut against Saracens in the EDF Cup with a try and also claimed the National Colt 7s Cup in 2006 as well as being one of the members of the Middlesex Sevens squad last year.
Bath also have a very young side and will be captained by Ed Jackson who has represented England at U18 and U16 levels. Their match against the British Army is the first of the day and will kick off at 10:00.
The last time they won the Middlesex Sevens was in 1994.
