Olorun Sharks name strong squad for Middlesex 7s

Tuesday 5 July 2011 (UR7s)

The Olorun Sharks have named a strong side for this weekends Middlesex 7s, welcoming back a number of players from the side that made the final at West Country 7s in the Super Series who were missing in Newquay this past weekend.

The Sharks have a distinct Swedish flavour about them this weekend as they welcome back stalwart Andrew Daish from international duty and add flyer Tobias Borg to the side. Borg has scored 17 tries in 2 FIRA 7s tournaments this summer, being named MVP of the tournament n Heidelberg this weekend where Sweden finished 3rd.

Also coming back into the side is Rosslyn Park powerhouse, Harry Rowland who will add some fire power up front that was missing in Newquay. On the wing will also be Mike Canty who played in the Middlesex 7s and JP Morgan 7s for Exeter Chiefs last year. Canty missed Newquay 7s with a hamstring injury.

Captain, Danny Pointon will be winning his 60th cap for the Sharks in their opening game against Samurai International at 12:50 on Saturday. Pointon has not missed a tournament for the Sharks in the past 3 years and is integral to their go forward rugby.

He will look to a powerful midfield in Tom Jarvis and Simeon James to run off him whilst the Sharks are probably at their strongest at half back with student Paul Jarvis and Joe Macmanus rotating this position.

Olorun Sharks head coach said "we have been really pleased with the boys so far this summer and they have earnt their chance to perform at Twickenham against some of the best players in the world"

"We won't be intimidated by playing Samurai International, in fact we are relishing the opportunity and going to give it a good go"

"There is a squad unity with the Sharks that I have not seen before with an invitational 7s team, no clicks, no groups with the team, just 12 guys aiming to do everything they can for one another and leave it all on the park, hopefully this will do us well on Saturday"

"The Middlesex 7s is such an historic tournament and it's a real honour to be invited, the boys are looking forward to the day and can't wait to get on with it now" said Burwell
