Toronto – June 21, 2011 The Dog River Howlers and the Pacific Tyees rugby clubs have officially announced their line-ups for this week’s battle during halftime of the BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders exhibition game in Vancouver.

The game takes place Wednesday, June 22 and will feature a rugby legend, Fijian Waisale Serevi, who will suit up for the Howlers. The former Fijian international player has been considered as one of the best to have ever played rugby sevens.

The game also includes several of the brightest stars Canadian rugby has to offer and several of them have represented Canada on the international stage in various Under-20 matches.

This match will be an important step in exposing rugby sevens to a large Canadian audience. Spectators unfamiliar with the sport will be captivated by the fast-pace and athleticism demonstrated by the players.

Rick Bourne, Chairman of Rugby Canada, is looking forward to the upcoming game and had this to say about the dramatic surge in popularity of rugby sevens:

"Canada is proud to be now part of the Olympic movement with the inclusion of Sevens Rugby for 2016...this is a fast moving athletic remarkable game where young Canadians have a great future on the world stage to show the world what the Canadian spirit and pride can do."
