oach Paul John will take a new-look Wales Sevens squad to Lyon this weekend in the first of four European 'Grand Prix' Sevens tournaments.
Wales finished seventh in the International Rugby Board Sevens World Series and John is now focused on developing the next wave of players.
Tournaments in Moscow, Barcelona and Bucharest follow this opener in France and next month's Middlesex Sevens.
"These are high quality tournaments," said Welsh head coach John.
"With the likes of England, Portugal, France, Spain and Russia involved, they will give players an insight into international Sevens rugby."
A number of the Welsh squad named for this coming weekend have been seen on the invitational circuit over the past couple of years including a number of the squad having played for the Akuma Smurfs in the National Sevens Series
All eyes will be on the final group match of the weekend as a young new look Wales squad take on an exciting England squad which blends the new and the old.
