more »Belgium well positioned to qualify for European Grand Prix 7s after victory

Belgium took the honours in Gdansk, Poland over the weekend in the FIRA Group A tournament and with it positioned themselves perfectly to gain promotion to the 7 Grand Prix Series next year.
The Belgians defeated Sweden 17-5 in the final with the Swedes featuring Super Series players Alex Taylor, Andy Daish and Lee Sandberg who all ply their 15s trade in the UK.
It was Belgium though behind the play of Player of the Tournament Berger who came away with the deserved honours having only lost 1 group game throughout the weekend (7 games) beating Isreal, Andorra, Croatia, Poland but losing out to Germany in the groups. The Belgians came back strong on Day 2 beating Lithuania in the semi-final before the Swedes in the final.
Germany, Sweden & Lithuania will try during the second tournament in Heildelberg (2/3 th July) to change the order established in Poland and will feel bouyed by their chances with the apple of the Grand Prix going to the winners, there is alot on offer.
Poland, at home, won the Plate against Israel ( 17-0 ) and Andorra by beating Croatia ( 7-0 ) got the Bowl.

The final ranking of this tournament will be used as ranking for the last tournament in Heildelberg.
This coming weekend will see the start of the FIRA European Grand Prix series in Lyon which will feature the elite nations of europe including England who intend to use a number of World Series players whilsy trying out some new younger stars in the newly formed European series which will also take in Moscow, Bucharest and Barcelona.
