Heriot's followed up last week's final appearance at the Gala Sevens with a last eight place at the Melrose Sevens on Saturday, but ultimately they were outclassed by South Africans Hamilton.
The Goldenacre side were the only one of the five Capital clubs at the Greenyards to make it to the quarter-finals.
The hosts went on to beat Hamilton in the final.
In the first tie of the day, Watsonians were bundled out 33-26 by Dundee HSFP,ADVERTISEMENTdespite tries from Jamie Forbes, Doug Brown and Ross Aitken.
In the second tie, Boroughmuir defeated West of Scotland 24-12, Ross Samson scoring twice.
Currie also progressed through their first tie 26-14 over Falkirk. Scotland Sevens cap James Johnstone scored the first try and it was followed by one from Mark Cairns and two from Matt Scott.
Edinburgh Accies booked a second-round tie with Heriot's when Gavin Douglas led the way with two tries in a comfortable 26-10 win over Langholm.
In the final match in the first round, Stewart's Melville had to battle past Biggar 26-17. Their tries came from Sam Blackwood, Scott Riddell, Nick McCashin and Liam Steele.
Boroughmuir lost narrowly to Hong Kong Scottish in round two. They went down 21-19, but had nearly grabbed a late winner through Orr.
Currie were then blown away 33-0 by Waikato before Edinburgh Accies met Heriot's. Colin Goudie scored two tries as Heriot's eased through 29-5.
Stewart's Melville then bowed out 38-7 to Hamilton, although Donald Sangster scored one of the tries of the day.
