All the latest from Delhi as UR7s gets exclusive reaction from the last day of the Rugby Sevens competition where New Zealand claimed gold, Australia silver and South Africa bronze.
Gordon Tietjens (Coach New Zealand) – On how his side won their 4th Commonwealth Rugby Sevens gold
"We had to play guys like Raikabula in different positions with Cama out for the final. It wasn't just the starting seven, everyone contributed off the bench. Stowers was pretty fresh when he scored that try.We smashed ourselves at training in Dubai but all those hard trainings are worth it. We emptied the tank.
"We set some goals at the start of the season and the number one was to win this gold medal. The biggest challenge was selecting the right side as there are some good players back home.
"I had a feeling we'd meet Australia and was glad we didn't meet them earlier on."
Kurt Baker (New Zealand) – On his try in the final and his coach
"It was brilliant and it shows a good team that can come back from there.I was planning to kick it but I happened to look up and saw Sherwin who put the foot down.
“You can't say enough about Titch and the Sevens game helping you as a person. He has stuck with me and really helped me out.
Michael O'Connor (Coach Australia) – On his pride for his side
"We were right in it to the end and I'm very proud of the way our boys acquitted themseleves. We're always looking for gold but we'll take silver."
"We'll keep one or two for Dubai but we'll replenish with some younger players. They get rewarded with full Australian selection and I'm very happy for them. Luke Morahan, Nick Phipps and Pat McCutcheon would be my tips."
Pat McCutcheon (Australia Captain) – Rues errors but ultimately happy with silver
“A few mistakes were costly and our execution wasn’t 100 per cent, a few knock-ons, dropped balls and pushed passes really cost us.
“But for the boys to win the silver medal it’s reward for all the hard work that has been put in over the last 12 months, and it’s a tremendous achievement to record Australia’s best result at a Commonwealth Games.”
Paul Treu (South Africa Coach) – On his players fight in claiming bronze
“They responded splendidly to the challenge and I am delighted for the lads. It was a tough ask of the guys after the disappointment of losing to Australia in the semi-final, but they showed real mental strength to come back from 14-5 down to shut out the game against a very good English team.
“But for the boys to win the silver medal it’s reward for all the hard work that has been put in over the last 12 months, and it’s a tremendous achievement to record Australia’s best result at a Commonwealth Games.”
Ben Ryan (England Coach) – Backs his players after leaving Delhi empty handed
We leave Delhi without anything and we're bitterly disappointed. It's very frustrating but I believe in these players and believe we can go on and win a World Series with this side."
