All the latest from Delhi University ground as UR7s gets exclusive reaction from Day 1 of the Rugby Sevens competition
---
Benjamin Ayimba (Coach, Kenya) - On Kenya’s improvements throughout the day
"We have got better as the day has gone and we are doing more of what we practised on the training field.
"Australia is going to be a very tough game as they were wounded today.
"We really want to get into the medal bracket and it's going to take a game against Australia to do that. We're going to give it our all."
Paul Delport, (South Africa) – Who finished top of Pool B with a 21-5 win over Wales
"We just wanted to get through as number one in the pool and we did that. The young guys showed a lot of character and the older guys helped them through.
"Wales are a classy side and it was pleasing to do what we needed to do. Tomorrow is the same as today, one game at a time. It's not a quarter-final for us, its Match 4 of the Commonwealth Games. It will be a tough day tomorrow as any one of eight sides could win the tournament."
Paul Treu (Coach, South Africa) – Pays tribute to his senior contingent
“I am not too pleased with the many unforced errors during the second half. However, we will continue to grow and develop as a new team and I must give the senior players credit for the way they’ve guided the newcomers.
DJ Forbes (Captain, New Zealand) – On unbeaten New Zealand’s squad effort and shaving habits
"The key thing was it was a team effort, all twelve guys played really well today. There's a lot of depth in the side and they will all have to step up. The quarter-finals are always tough and today really counts for nothing. To be considered we need to front up tomorrow.
"We won't be taking Wales lightly after we had a training run against them in Dubai. The beard is probably coming off first thing in the morning, so I should be a lot lighter and faster tomorrow!"
James Stannard (Australia) – Who lost out to England in their final pool game.
"That was a tough battle out there and we just didn't get there in the end. We have to come in tomorrow ready and focused and it doesn't matter who we play - we just have to win all our games."
Ben Gollings (Captain, England) - On the prospects of maybe facing New Zealand
"Australia was a sensational game of rugby and it's great to get three wins from the first day.
"We have to win every game tomorrow and we go away now to get our preparations right. The boys have been sensational today and it's a matter of bringing it out again tomorrow. If we do play New Zealand that will be exciting as in Sevens you can't shy away from any team."
Stephen Gemmell (Coach, Scotland) - On booking Scotland’s first ever Commonwealth Sevens quarter-finals
“We’ve achieved what we set out to do. All our preparation has been geared towards winning these two games and getting that quarter-final place.
“There are three medals up for grabs and Scotland is one of only eight teams that can win one.”
