Scottish based rugby team The Bone Steelers have today announced a title sponsorship deal with Aberdeen based energy consultancy, Xodus Group.
The internationally renowned consultancy has signalled its support for the Steelers by entering into a deal that will see the team renamed the ‘Xodus Steelers’.
The first competition for the team under its new name will take place in December at the famous Dubai Rugby Sevens tournament.
The Steelers have been competing at the Dubai Rugby Sevens since 2004 and the 2010 squad will include former Scotland internationalists Craig Joiner, Rowen Shepherd, Glenn Metcalfe, Duncan Hodge, Stuart Reid and Cammy Mather.
This year the team will again compete in the highly competitive Veterans 10s event. The side lost out in the semi-final stage last year to favourites Christina Noble who included Austin Healey, Tim Horan and Tim Stimpson amongst their ranks. This year the Xodus Steelers will be looking to make the final which is played in front of 50,000 on the main pitch.
“We’re delighted to announce this exciting partnership with the Xodus Group which is fantastic news for our supporters both in Scotland and Dubai,” said Founder of the Steelers Colin Bone.
“We will be working to build the club into a recognisable and successful brand and this agreement allows us to build on last year’s work.
"It was great to be back at the Dubai Sevens last year and we were all really pleased to make the semis, but this year we want to make the final for all our Scottish supporters in Dubai and around the world.”
Xodus CEO Colin Manson said: “We are a competitive organisation and so we really enjoy supporting both individual sports people and teams on the world stage. We expect the side to do very well at the Dubai tournament and we wish them every success.“
