Humphrey Kayange will lead Kenya's Sevens Rugby Team at next month's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India (11-12 October).
The 28-year-old Mwamba RFC utility makes his maiden appearance at the Games, a year after leading Kenya to a semi-final berth at the 2009 RWC Sevens.
He captains the 12-man group named by head coach Benjamin Ayimba at the RFUEA grounds this morning.
Only two players – Lavin Asego and Sidney Ashioya – were in the 2006 Commonwealth Games side in Melbourne, Australia while Gray Cullen, Andrew Amonde, Brian Nyikuli and Wilson K'Opondo are the new inclusions to the squad that made the 2009 RWC Sevens semi finals in Dubai.
The likes of Victor Sudi and Innocent Simiyu miss out on selection but have been placed on standby for the tournament.
In Delhi, Kenya face Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea and a potential thriller against Samoa on the first day of the 16-team tournament staged on October 11-12.
Head coach Ayimba said: "We expect to be in the medals bracket. We're looking forward to what should be a highly competitive Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens in Delhi."
