Atlanta Old White’s win at the 2010 South Sevens Championships has confirmed their presence at the National Club 7s Championships in August.
They beat Life University 12-5 in close fought and tense finale at the Tennessee Rugby Park in Knoxville. By virtue of finishing runners-up Life will also join Atlanta at the San Francisco Finals.
A Fidelis Odah try gave Life a 5-0 half-time lead but the introduction of Richard Kanda changed the game. Two long distance tries from Kanda turned the tie in Atlanta’s favour and saw them take the title.
The pair joins the likes of Belmont Shore I, Belmont Shore II, Denver Barbarians and the Dallas Harlequins who have already qualified.
This weekend sees the Mid-Atlantic 7s championship in Wilmington with Nova and Charlotte the favourites and another qualifier in the West region, hosted by Denver.
