NYAC & 1823 impress in USA

Wednesday 14 July 2010 (UR7s)

The New York Athletic Club (NYAC) have enjoyed a successful start to their Sevens season taking their second tournament on the bounce in the Northeast Region at the Old Blue Sevens.

NYAC included USA Sevens coach Al Caravellli’s son Kyle in their line-up and former College Football defensive back Miles Craigwell, according to Rugbymag, com.

After beating hosts Old Blue in a closely fought semi-final (17-14), NYAC found things easier against Boston in the day’s finale, taking it 31-12.

Long Island took third spot beating Old Blue in the decider with NYAC II beating Village Lions to finish 5th.
In the Midwest region 1823 have followed up on tournament wins at Taz and Cincinnati with another triumph at Cleveland’s Rock ‘N’ Roll 7s.

The club, only in their first year of existence, proved too hot for Dayton in a high-scoring final final (41-23). With a healthy lead in the Midwest Rankings the club also showed its strength in depth by putting out a B team in Cleveland.
