US Club sevens round-up

Tuesday 29 June 2010 (UR7s)

Established sevens outfit Chicago Lions enjoyed a profitable weekend taking out the Lakefront Sevens. The tournament not only acted as a Midwest Sevens qualifier for the regional Series but also was part of the Championship Cup Series (CCS).

The Lions faced a strong Milwaukee in the finals edging their opponent’s 19-12. The win also enables both Chicago and Milwaukee to take their position at the CCS finals in Las Vegas off (February 12-13).

Last season saw the Lions finished third overall at Nationals with them last being crowned champions in 2007.
The PAC 7s in Maryland acted soley as a CC7s qualifier with the CAS Sharks running out victorious 29-17 against the NYAC.

Denver Barbarians kicked their sevens season in ideal fashion, triumphing at the first West qualifier of the season in Dallas.

The Barbos, 2008 Nationals runners-up, overcame hosts Dallas Harlequins 33-26 in a high scoring affair at Glencoe Park. They take an early lead in the region but can expect the likes of Aspen and Glendale to challenge them in coming weeks.
