1823 make running in USA's Midwest

Monday 21 June 2010 (UR7s)

New side 1823 are making a name for themselves in the USA’s Midwest region. They stormed to success in this weekend’s Cincinnati 7s overcoming the Wolfhounds 19-15 in the day’s finale.

It was their second tight win in successive weekends following success at Taz 7s. There they beat the YoungBloodz of Minnesota 29-24, thanks to a try at the death.

1823 has mixed a number of promising players from various pathways and was founded by Paul Holmes.
Recent graduates from Ohio State, Miami University, and Bowling Green have all featured along with members Scioto Valley Rugby Club in Colombus.

Teams get a chance to head to the Midwest 7s Championships via seven regional qualifying tournaments where seeds are determined via points picked up.

1823 lead the rankings on 12 points followed by Milwaukee (10) and Youngbloodz (10).
