Kenyan coach Benjamin Ayimba has revealed his squad for the final legs of the 09/10 IRB Sevens World Series in London (22-23 May) and Edinburgh (29-30 May).

The ‘Shuuja’ have endured a frustrating season and currently find themselves in seventh position on the overall table on 52 points.

One again the squad is an experienced one with Ayimba as ever enjoying continuity in selection.

Stalwarts Alan Onyango, Ben Nyambu and Sidney Ashioya miss this tour due to job related commitments but Ayimba feels that he has sufficient firepower for the trip to the United Kingdom. Leon Adongo makes a welcome return to the team for the first time since the Dubai Sevens.

Kenya find themselves in London’s most difficult Pool, matched with New Zealand, Wales and Portugal. A week later they meet Samoa, Argentina, and France at Murrayfield, the final leg of the current World Series campaign.

Speaking to the KRU after naming his side at the RFUEA Grounds, Ayimba said.

“We head into these two legs 18 points behind our set target. We have landed some tough pools but we will be out to compete for maximum points in both legs.”

Upon returning from Edinburgh Sevens, the Kenyans will look to defend their Safari Sevens title in front of their home fans at the RFUEA Grounds in Ngong.

“The Safaricom Sevens is just a few days after the last round of the IRB Sevens World Series. We have carried our sprint coach Geoffrey Kimani (to London and Edinburgh) to ensure that the boys remain in tip top shape ahead of our home tournament,” added Ayimba.

Kenya Squad for London and Edinburgh:

Humphrey Kayange (C) – (Mwamba RFC ), Victor Sudi (Nivea for Men Quins), Bryan Nyikuli (Resolution Health Impala), Gibson Weru (Nakuru RFC), Lavin Asego (Mwamba RFC) Innocent Simiyu (Resolution Health Impala) Collins Injera (Mwamba RFC), Biko Adema (Nondescripts RFC), Horace Otieno (Mwamba RFC), Leon Adongo (Nivea for Men Quins), Dennis Mwanja (Kenya Commercial Bank RFC) Dennis Muhanji (Nivea for Men Quins).
