more »London Irish to defend Middlesex Sevens crown

Defending champions London Irish have confirmed they will defend their Middlesex Sevens title on August 14 at Twickenham.
The Reading based club won the title for the first time in their club’s history in 2009 beating Newcastle in the final with three Armitage brothers in their a very strong squad.
Six other Premiership clubs have confirmed their presence at England’s oldest sevens tournament with Harlequins, London Wasps, Saracens, Newcastle Falcons, Leeds Carnegie and Leicester Tigers hoping to take home some of the £30,000 prize money on offer this year.
England who will be appearing under their ‘Help for Heroes’ banner will also be joined by Scotland and Wales in advance of their Commonwealth Games challenges in October.
The British Army, winners at Middlesex in 2001 and 2004, will again be fielding a strong side in the Middlesex Sevens and will be joined by other invitational sides and guest teams for the 84th running of the event.
